ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT:

Welcome to the department of Dentistry at GMC Handwara. Our department is well equipped with essential facilities to provide comprehensive dental care to the patients.
Department caters good number of patients for consultation as well as for various minor and major oral and maxillofacial surgical and endodontic procedures.

OBJECTIVES OF OUR DEPARTMENT:

To provide high quality dental care and research.
To focus on prevention of dental diseases by promoting good oral hygiene maintenance practices through awareness of common masses.
To ensure that treatment adheres to the highest standards of safety and sterilization.

MISSION & VISION:

Our mission is to reduce the prevalence of dental diseases through awareness of common people.
Encourage people to come up for routine dental checkups which will help to treat the disease at its earliest stage.
Emphasise the importance of good oral hygiene.
To provide contribute to the scientific community by providing good quality dental and oral research.
To achieve the ultimate goal of healthy teeth and pleasing and balanced facial profile for everyone.
To instill the importance of good oral hygiene among people.
Control and prevention of dental diseases by educating people and motivating them to follow basic dental hygiene.

ACHIEVEMENT OF THE DEPARTMENT:

Department of Dentistry conducted a Continued medical /dental education programme with the theme ��Shared Frontiers of Oral and Systemic Health�� on 25 November 2025 with 4 CME and 4 CDE credit points allotted by the Jammu and Kashmir medical council and Jammu and Kashmir Dental council respectively .
The Department of Dentistry has also achieved a milestone by publishing 4 original studies and 1 case report in leading international and national journals, and 2 book chapters in Springer .
